Dialogue 1: Questioning through solo performance
Date and Time: 11 January 2026 (Sunday) 1pm–2:30pm
Moderator: Vee Leong
Guests: Dick Wong Tai-fai, Melissa Leung
In this session, artists Dick Wong and Melissa Leung explore solo performance as a means of probing questions of artistic identity and creative consciousness.
Seen through this lens, the format of solo performance transcends mere presentation and becomes a powerful form of inquiry, one that continually expands the boundaries and depth of performance art.
Liberated from the constraints of traditional theatrical narrative and structure, the two artists transform the stage into a playground of experimentation. No longer dependent on character interplay and elaborate sets, they turn to their own bodies, voices and presence as the most direct and truthful instruments of creation.
Dialogue 2: Challenges of a solo performer
Date and Time: 17 January 2026 (Saturday) 1pm–2:30pm
Moderator: Melissa Leung
Guests: Alysa Leung, Kasen Tsui
When a solo performer stands alone on stage, without the support of scene partners or intricate staging, they are face a dual challenge: one of technical precision and inner reckoning.
Emerging artists Alysa Leung and Kasen Tsui share how they navigate these obstacles to successfully construct narratives from the ground up.
They embrace solo performance as a core creative methodology, exploring how limitations can be transformed into singular works. These pieces serve not only as expressions of art, but also as portals to international dialogue and new avenues for learning.
Dialogue 3: Creating solo scripts
Date and Time: 18 January 2026 (Sunday) 1pm–2:30pm
Moderator: Sim Sim Lai
Guests: Michelle Li, Wong Wing-sze, Tree Kwok
A solo script is like a meticulously crafted, deeply intimate map that traces the emotional terrain of its sole character with precision and care.
Artists Michelle Li, Wong Wing-sze and Tree Kwok have all written and performed their own work. They share the life cycle of a script – from initial concept to final staging – and explore how diverse voices can be threaded into a solo performance while weaving personal emotions into broader cultural and social contexts.
Their creative processes reflect a rigorous pursuit of artistic integrity – shaping rhythm, refining language, and balancing spoken lines with physical performance.
Each bringing a distinct approach to writing and staging, the three artists offer unique perspectives on the art of creating and performing one’s own work.
